97% OF OUR DNA RESEMBLES THE DNA OF ORANGUTANS
Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) Schweiz is a Zürich-based NGO aiming to protect the last Borneo orangutans and to preserve their habitat, the rainforest. For this purpose, BOS Switzerland supports what is currently the largest primate rescue and rehabilitation program in the world - BOS Foundation in Indonesia. Closely linked to this commitment are reforestation projects, initiatives to promote sustainable development in Indonesia (microcredit projects, health projects and environmental education) as well as educational and public relations work in Switzerland.
For the 15th anniversary BOS Schweiz celebrates with a travelling exhibition showing the beauty and destruction of the Indonesian rainforest. Amongst the roughly 70 exhibits from 11 international and prize-winning photographers are these 4 merged VIP-orangutan portraits. Their message is that 97% of our DNA resembles the DNA of orangutans. Thus, we are currently driving one of our closest relatives towards extinction.
